Gary Vee Theres No Right Time to Hustle!

Gary Vee “There’s No Right Time to Hustle!” Gary Vee: “There’s No Right Time to Hustle!” Image Source: VaynermediaAS SOMEONE who works 18-hour days, a bunch of you ask if I’m a morning person, or look for advice on how to make your mornings more productive. Here’s the thing: I think being a “morning person” is such an overrated phrase. Just because you’re up early doesn’t make you more productive than anybody else.Even the idea that the morning is valued more than any other part of the day is insane. Yeah, you might do your best work in the morning, that’s great. But guess what? Some people work best at 3am, 5pm, 11:58pm. It’s just another one of those things you need to be self-aware about.I’ll be honest, I’m not a morning person. I sleep like a brick and it takes a lot to get me up. And I mean a lot. So, it’s hard for me to wake up from a deep, deep sleep. It sucks and I get why many of you find it hard to become a “morning person.”Recently though, I have been waking up a lot better because I’ve been working out and eating better (thank you, Mi ke). I usually wake up around 5-6am to work out for an hour. But even then, it’s hard because it doesn’t always happenâ€"I travel a lot and my calendar gets chaotic and sometimes I just have to get sleep.Outside of taking my phone into the bathroom to poop every morning, there’s no regular routine to my morning schedule. But, there are two consistent things that help motivate me to get out of bed in the morning. One is very noble and one is very selfish. The noble one is that I’m very aware that peopleâ€"my loved ones, my business partners, my employeesâ€"depend on me to get up and do what I do.For example, I love that I get to create content that serves as your blueprint to your success. The selfish one is that I want to accomplish things. I want to build the biggest agency of all time. I want to buy the New York Jets. I want to hustle. I want to win.“In the end, it’s all about how much you can get done while you have the right energy to do it.”“Hustling” doesn’t mean waking up at the crack of dawn and exhausting yourself until you collapse. The truth is, it’s not about how much you sleep or don’t sleep. It’s what you do while you’re awake that matters. If you work hard and smart while you’re awake and give it all you’ve got in those hours, then you’re hustling. If I am working on a project or in a meeting or on a phone call in the car, I’m 100% full-throttle on. And don’t get me wrong: I’m the same way when it comes to my downtime. Rest time is for rest. The reality is that there’s no benefit to being a “morning person” and there’s no right or wrong time to deploy your energy against the things that matter the most.Far too many people focus and waste tons of time and energy on the things that don’t map to what they (or their business) want to accomplish.I implore my community to stop worrying about the small thingsâ€"the minutia that aren’t part of your clouds and dirt. You can hack your morning routine every damn day till you get it right, but in the end, it’s all about how much you can get done while you have the right energy to do it.Morning or night, hustle is putting it all on the line, and that, my friends, is available to all of us at any damn time of day.IMAGE SOURCE:  GARYVAYNERCHUK.COMGary Vaynerchuk  (aka Gary Vee)  builds businesses: Fresh out of college, he took his family wine business and grew it from a $3m to a $60m business in just five years. Im Confused By All The Options In Front Of Me. How Do I Narrow Down My Ideas

“Im Confused By All The Options In Front Of Me. How Do I Narrow Down My Ideas” Help from our Community “Im Confused By All The Options In Front Of Me. How Do I Narrow Down My Ideas?” * Nicole's fed up with spending her days doing meaningless work. She longs to trade it all in for something that really fires her up. But how do you discover your ideal careerwhen you've got so many ideas that your head is spinning? What's your career history and current job? I originally qualified as a mechanical engineer, which is where my career has taken me so far. For the past year, I've been working for a company that manufactures industrial gas turbines. How do you feel about your work? I've always loved maths and science, so engineering seemed like a natural fit for me. I enjoy the challenge of problem solving, thinking analytically and logically, and collaborating with other people. No two days are ever the same, which I really like. But unlike some of my previous engineering roles, which involved getting outside and troubleshooting issues up close, I now spend most of my time behind a desk. I don't enjoy the feeling of being almost completely inactive, 'cooped up' in an office all day, and working inflexible hours. Unfortunately, I also haven't got any passion for the work I'm doing. I can't get excited about turbine engines, so the idea of going into work every day is more draining than motivating. I don't feel any sense of fulfilment, and it often feels like the work I'm doing doesn't matter to anyone. I've realised that although I don't hate engineering, it's never given me that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling that people often talk about when they genuinely love what they do. I long to wake up every morning, and feel happy and excited about going to work! What would you like to be doing instead? I want to find a meaningful career that I can feel really passionate about, working the hours I choose, on my own terms. In an ideal world, I'd do something that actively involves helping people or animals, working in the Great Outdoors. Ever since I was little, I've loved being outside. There's something so inspiring about being surrounded by fresh air. My husband and I have always dreamed about buying a farm, growing our own vegetables, and raising our own animals. But we haven't got the money to do anything like that, and it's hard to see how it could be a real business, anyway. I've been working with a career coach for the past few months, who has helped me uncover lots of different ideas and interests, such as planning and organisation, sports, nutrition, and photography. I've thought about becoming an event planner, a sports coach, or even a vet. What's the biggest obstacle in your way? I'm confused by all the different options in front of me, and I don't know how to start narrowing them all down. I want to find inspiring work that I can plan towards in a practical way. But I don't know where to begin. None of the career ideas I've had stand out more than the others, and unfortunately, I can't afford to just leave my job and keep trying new things until I find something that feels right. I've also worked hard to achieve my engineering qualifications, and they were expensive. Engineering is all I've ever known as a career, so I don't want to waste any more time and money on training for something new, if I can't be 100% convinced it's going to be right for me. I've been making an effort to explore some different things in my free time, such as volunteering at a hospital, and setting up a 'side hustle', selling health and wellness products from home. While that has helped me gain some new skills in business and marketing, it hasn't brought me any closer to finding a new and inspiring career. I don't want to be stuck behind a desk, doing meaningless work for the rest of my career. But unless I can feel truly inspired about something else, I can't see how to plan my way out. How do I cut through all the confusion and uncertainty I'm feeling, and find work that feels like it was always meant for me? Can you help Nicole? Have you been in a similar situation, or are you in the same boat right now? How do you think Nicole could move her shift forwards? Do you know anyone she could talk to? How Millennials Use Facebook for Professional Networking

How Millennials Use Facebook for Professional Networking A new study shows us that Generation Y members on Facebook have on average 16 colleagues as friends. The fact that 18 to 29-year olds use Facebook both socially and professionally is hardly surprising but it does give HR departments and recruiters a great way to leverage Facebook as a platform to hire new talent. Dan Schawbel of Millennial Branding says  â€œWhen they go home [generation Y], they are still connected to the workplace… Their co-workers are their friends. And because people change jobs so often and have so many friends, their friends become co-workers. (Quote from ERE.net.) Some interesting stats from this study are that most Generation Y members on Facebook list their education (80%), whilst only about a third (36%) list their current job on their profile. The fifth most common job title happens to be owner perhaps a sign of the current economic climate where many people are freelancing or managing a portfolio career. In terms of friend count, yes the Gen Y users on Facebook are friends with an average of 16 work mates but that is a very little number in proportion to their total number of friends which is a staggering 696 on average. If anything, this proves that young professionals are open networkers on Facebook and connect with most people they know, not just friends. The question is really: Will they connect with recruiters? The Dos and Donts of LinkedIn Job Hunting

The Dos and Donts of LinkedIn Job Hunting Theres no doubt that LinkedIn is a great way to find a new job. They have successfully implemented a way to advertise openings based on how closely they relate to your title. If you are a Human Resources Manager, chances are you will see a handful of ads for HR Manager positions local to you. On the flip side as a candidate it makes applying to positions so much easier. If you have applied to a position before you know that some companies have an application process that makes taking the SATs look easy. You have to individually write out every job youve had, schools youve attended, references, etc. etc. With LinkedIn in most cases you can click apply, attach your profile and youre done! However if you are going to use the tool you need to use it correctly in order to be successful with it. Do: Have a complete profile or resume attached. The beauty of LinkedIn is that you can apply to a job in just a few clicks. You do not have to  painstakingly fill out a profile with hundreds of text boxes. You can click apply, send your profile (or attach a resume) and done. As a result make sure your profile is complete. You wouldnt send a blank resume would you? Be well connected. I have written in the past that the best way to differentiate yourself from the hundreds of other applicants is to have direct connection with that company. If you are connected with someone from the hiring team you can drop a note or a message to that person specifically prompting them to give your resume a second look. Write your profile like a resume. LinkedIn profiles tend to not be written like resumes, even though they should be. For example I usually put a split of what my company does and what my responsibilities are in my profile. I do this because I want to showcase my company as well as how I fit into the mold. However if you are job searching it stands to reason your profile should read like your resume would. You should have full details of your responsibilities, a summary at the top explaining your career and make sure to fill out the awards/ honors section (employers want to know what makes you stand out). Dont: Apply to a job with an incomplete profile. I cant tell you how many times someone will send me their LinkedIn application with just job titles and company names only and no other details. Not only does this not show me the information I need to know, it also shows me you are lazy. If you arent willing to take the extra step to either attach a resume or complete your profile, what kind of employee will you be? Annoy the job poster. From time to time the contact information of the poster will be on the job. Or you will be connected to someone from that company yourself. Above I said that you should contact someone from the hiring team to get your resume noticed. However I said contact, not annoy. Do not send the job poster a daily message have you seen my profile yet?? There is a very fine line between professional persistence and being annoying. You dont want to be the latter. Apply across country without explaining why. This one is a little more specific to people who are looking to relocate, but a situation that does occur regularly. Depending on the job companies will perform a nation wide search having budgeted for relocation costs. However depending on the company more times than not this is not the case. So if you are looking for a job across the country, but the company doesnt have it in the budget you may get disregarded. If you are applying across country there may be a reason for that; your significant other is being relocated already, you are trying to move back home, etc. Dont put it on the job poster to try and figure out why you are willing to move so far, explain this situation up front so you are considered. LinkedIn has revolutionized the marketplace from a job hunting perspective. They have aligned hiring managers with candidates like no other company or site has before. However if you arent using it correctly you might as well continue applying by looking up companies in the phone book.
